About Youth Talk

Youth Talk is a local charity providing free, confidential counselling to young people aged 13 to 25 in St Albans and surrounding areas. We offer a safe space where young people can talk openly about whatever is worrying them and get the support they need to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Location

Our charity’s activities take place within the St Albans District, and as such volunteers need to be based locally to ensure they can easily access and participate in our community events.

Practical Considerations

  • This is a flexible role and you can choose how and when you support
  • You will mainly carry out activities independently or within your own networks
  • Some activities may involve speaking to groups or representing Youth Talk publicly
  • You may need to travel locally to events or community meetings
  • Basic confidence in talking to others is helpful, but support is available
  • You should be comfortable following guidance around safeguarding and confidentiality
  • You will need to communicate with your Youth Talk contact about your plans and activities
  • This role will require an informal chat or briefing before getting started
