We are seeking a Trustee with Health & Safety expertise to strengthen our governance and ensure we provide a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable adults
About the Role
As our Health & Safety Trustee, you will play a key part in overseeing the charity’s approach to risk management, compliance, and safe working practices. You won’t be responsible for day‑to‑day operations; instead, you will provide strategic guidance, constructive challenge, and assurance to the Board and the Management Team. Although we would like you to come in once a quarter to hold meetings with the team and review the safety of the premises.
This is an opportunity to use your professional skills to make a tangible difference to people’s lives while shaping the future of a charity with a strong social mission.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone who can offer:
- Professional experience in health and safety, risk management, compliance, or a related field
- A clear understanding of statutory responsibilities and best practice
- The ability to interpret risk reports and support proportionate, practical decision‑making
- A collaborative, supportive approach to governance
- A commitment to our mission of improving lives through skills and employment
- Advise on ad hoc projects
- Advise on any RIDDOR accidents and assist with reporting as necessary
Your Commitment
- Attend quarterly Board meetings (in person or online)
- Attend an “away day” at our premises once a year
- Attend quarterly visits to review our premises and hold team meetings.
