We are seeking a Trustee with Health & Safety expertise to strengthen our governance and ensure we provide a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable adults

About the Role

As our Health & Safety Trustee, you will play a key part in overseeing the charity’s approach to risk management, compliance, and safe working practices. You won’t be responsible for day‑to‑day operations; instead, you will provide strategic guidance, constructive challenge, and assurance to the Board and the Management Team.  Although we would like you to come in once a quarter to hold meetings with the team and review the safety of the premises.

This is an opportunity to use your professional skills to make a tangible difference to people’s lives while shaping the future of a charity with a strong social mission.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone who can offer:

  • Professional experience in health and safety, risk management, compliance, or a related field
  • A clear understanding of statutory responsibilities and best practice
  • The ability to interpret risk reports and support proportionate, practical decision‑making
  • A collaborative, supportive approach to governance
  • A commitment to our mission of improving lives through skills and employment
  • Advise on ad hoc projects
  • Advise on any RIDDOR accidents and assist with reporting as necessary

Your Commitment

  • Attend quarterly Board meetings (in person or online)
  • Attend an “away day” at our premises once a year
  • Attend quarterly visits to review our premises and hold team meetings.

Why Join Us

Becoming a trustee with us means:

  • Using your expertise for genuine social impact
  • Helping shape a safe, inclusive environment for staff, volunteers, and learners
  • Joining a supportive, passionate Board who care deeply about our mission
  • Contributing to a charity that changes lives every day
