We are seeking a trustee with experience in digital strategy, technology or data leadership

The Living Room | Hertfordshire

As we work towards becoming a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), we are committed to ensuring recovery voices are represented at every level of our leadership.

About The Living Room

The Living Room provides abstinence-based group therapy and recovery support for adults affected by addiction, helping individuals build lasting recovery and supporting families impacted by addiction.

As the organisation grows, we are strengthening our board’s expertise in digital and technology governance.

The Role

We are seeking a trustee with experience in digital strategy, technology or data leadership who can help the board oversee digital opportunities and risks as the organisation develops.

We are particularly interested in people who bring experience in areas such as

  • Digital strategy or digital transformation
  • IT leadership or technology management
  • Data governance or analytics
  • Cyber security or digital risk
  • Using data and insight to improve services or organisational performance

Experience in the charity sector is welcome but not essential.

Previous trustee experience is not required and support will be provided.

Trustee Responsibilities

Trustees share collective responsibility for the governance of the charity. In this role you would help the board:

  • Oversee digital strategy and technology risks
  • Strengthen awareness of cyber security and data governance
  • Support effective use of digital tools and information
  • Ensure technology supports safe and effective service delivery

Time Commitment

The board meets approximately 4–6 times per year, with meetings typically lasting around two hours.

Trustees are asked to review board papers in advance and occasionally contribute to discussions between meetings.

Overall time commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per month.

Lived Experience and Recovery Leadership

The Living Room is committed to becoming a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), ensuring that people with lived experience of addiction and recovery help shape our services, culture and leadership.

We warmly encourage applications from people with lived experience of recovery, or those who have supported a loved one through addiction and recovery.

Your insight and perspective are invaluable in helping ensure our services remain authentic, compassionate and effective.

Having lived experience of addiction or recovery will never exclude you from leadership here — we believe it strengthens our organisation.
