Summary

Feeling connected to people is vital to our wellbeing and happiness. Come and be part of the team here at Brainkind Care centre (formerly Sue Ryder) Stagenhoe.

Detailed description

As a volunteer with Brainkind you’ll provide companionship and enable people to do things. You’ll be helping Brainkind provide the best possible care and support to people with neurological conditions.

We take a completely person-centred approach to all our services and support which means each volunteering relationship will be different, however the role commonly includes:

Visiting a person with whom you have been matched, providing regular one-to-one companionship and a supportive relationship

Helping us take a holistic approach to care, you’ll be part of a team providing recreational activities to contribute to our residents’ sense of choice, wellbeing and fulfilment

What you won’t be expected to do:

Assisting with personal care, for example: washing, dressing, feeding or toileting

Administering medication of any kind or providing medical advice

We want to provide a volunteering environment that is inclusive, stimulating, friendly and supportive. As part of our commitment to you we will:

●    Make sure you have all the training you need in your role

●    Ensure you are appreciated and respected

●    Provide you with regular support in a way that suits you

●    Ask for your feedback and provide opportunities for you to help shape our future

●    Celebrate your successes and recognise your contribution

●    Resolve any concerns or complaints promptly and fairly

●    Ensure you have a clear idea of what your role involves

●    Reimburse any out of pocket travel expenses

Some of the benefits to you

●    Make new friends and feel connected

●    Build your confidence and improve your wellbeing

●    Enhance your CV and gain written references for prospective employers

●    Help change lives and support your local community

●    Join a team that celebrates diversity and individual differences
