Become a Watering Hero and help keep our allotment happy and hydrated! Drop in when it suits you to water plants and enjoy some time outdoors.
The Harpenden Mencap allotment in Southdown is a vibrant, welcoming space created and cared for by adults with learning disabilities. Together, we grow a variety of plants, vegetables, fruits and flowers - building skills, confidence and a real sense of community.
As a Watering Hero, you'll help keep the allotment thriving by watering the plants. This is a flexible opportunity you can fit around your own schedule. It's suitable for confident gardeners and simply those who enjoy being outdoors and wanting to do something positive.
We welcome volunteers of any age, and no long-term commitment is required, just a willingness to get involved and support a shared space that means a lot to the people who use it. Prior gardening experience not required.
