Help bring an exciting, town-wide challenge to life and support young people’s mental health in your community.
Be part of our first large-scale fundraiser, from hosting a stand, taking pictures, fundraising, cheering on runners and marshalling.
GRIT is a charity supporting young people to improve their mental health through group boxing programmes, workshops and one-to-one coaching.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our PASS GO FOR GRIT - a fun, high-energy event where participants race around Hitchin visiting local businesses, collecting clues and competing to solve a mystery sentence.
This is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a community-driven fundraising event, helping us raise vital funds (with match funding) to support local young people.
A local event, with local organisations coming together to let our local young people know their community has their back.
Key responsibilities
- Sharing the event within your communities to raise awareness
- Supporting event set-up and pack-down
- Helping with participant check-in and registrations
- Acting as a marshal or steward at key locations across the route
- Encouraging and directing participants throughout the event
- Supporting with timing, finish line coordination and general event flow
- Taking pictures and videos
- Promoting the work we do and engaging with the local community
We’re looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and confident speaking to the public
- Happy working independently or as part of a team
- Reliable and able to commit to the event day
- Passionate about supporting young people and their mental health
- Comfortable being outdoors and on their feet during the event
What you’ll get:
- The chance to be part of a fun, high-energy community event
- Experience supporting a large-scale local fundraiser for a small charity
- The opportunity to make a real impact on young people’s lives
- A great addition to your CV or portfolio
- A reference and plenty of gratitude from the team 💛

About Growing Resilience In Teens (GRIT)
Growing Resilience in Teens (GRIT) supports young people to improve their mental health through group boxing programmes, workshops and one-to-one coaching. Young people come to us from a variety of routes, including health care professionals, education settings and self- referrals – the majority of referrals come to us directly from schools. At the core of our work is the ‘Four Corners’ method, which empowers young people to use adversity as a platform for growth.
