Join us for a fun day getting your hands dirty and helping to plant new life in our local hedgerows.
Hedgerows are a vital link for wildlife and a significant feature of our countryside. Hedgerow Heroes is now in its sixth year and we're aiming to plant 4,000m this winter.
We are CPRE Hertfordshire, the countryside charity. This project is aimed at restoring nature by planting a native mix of hedging trees like hawthorn, blackthorn and field maple in selected locations. We're starting at Irongate Farm, a regenerative farm near Hitchin.
You’ll join a group of enthusiastic volunteers helping with planting, digging and mulching. Whether you can join once or regularly, your help will make a difference.
No planting experience necessary. We'll provide the training and tools.

About CPRE Hertfordshire
We are Hertfordshire's countryside charity, we work across the county to stand up for our countryside and green spaces. We rely on committed volunteers, like you, to help us achieve our aim to protect, promote and enhance the countryside for everyone to value and enjoy.
Green Belt is the countryside next door for a lot of people and its role has never been more important, while the threat of development has never been greater. It provides for nature, reduces the impact of climate change and gives people access to green spaces. In much of our campaign work we fight to uphold the protection of the Green Belt.
