Barclays Free Park Tennis is a free, organised tennis session, delivered weekly on a Saturday or Sunday morning from 10–11am at your local park tennis courts.

Being part of a team of Barclays Free Park Tennis Activators and run fun games and tennis exercises that help people to get active in their local park on a weekend morning.

***This is an activation role, not a coaching role****

Welcome and register people on to court and hand out equipment. Then help to organise fun, simple activities for people to play in, and then collect equipment in at the end.

Work together as a team to manage the group of participants whilst maintaining a safe and enjoyable session.

Sessions are coordinated by a local organisation (e.g. a tennis operator or council). A minimum of two activators will run each session so activators can support on a rota basis fitting the dates you are able attend.

Becoming an activator

·      Free online activator training will provide all the knowledge and skills you will need to organise a session. The course lasts approx. 2-3 hours and covers elements of content, organisation, safeguarding and inclusion.

·      Plus, shadowing opportunities will be provided to learn from others.

·      Activators will also complete an LTA volunteer DBS criminal records check (this ensures sessions are safe for all).

About lawn tennis association

We’re here to transform communities through tennis. To do this, we’re focussing on three areas – making tennis welcoming, enjoyable and inspiring to everyone.

We’re proud to have been the governing body of tennis in Great Britain since 1888, and our goal is for more people to play and enjoy tennis.

We’re here because we are passionate about our sport, and we want to spread that passion across the nation. Looking to the future, we have an important role to play in ensuring the popularity and longevity of the sport – and to achieve that, we’re putting in place exciting and ambitions plans to create more opportunities for everyone to engage with tennis.

Volunteers, coaches, officials and tennis venues all play an essential role in the future of our sport; without them, tennis can’t exist. We’re committed to supporting them and working with a whole range of other organisations and individuals connected to our sport, so that together we can grow tennis and open it up to many more people
