Summary
Volunteers to operate phone line and take bookings, payments and answer enquiries. Should be resident in St Albans/Harpenden area.Detailed description
Would you like to join our small Team running the virtual “office” for Computer Friendly? This is a great opportunity to be involved in helping people struggling with technology, even if you haven’t the technical knowledge yourself. The role would involve answering the phone and answering questions such as “when is the next Drop-In in Harpenden”, “my email has stopped working”, “I’d like to learn how to use a computer”. We don’t expect you to have technical knowledge, but rather the ability and patience to talk to people looking for help. Generally this involves suggesting a visit to one of our Drop-Ins or booking a place on a Course. You would be using our Microsoft Teams phone system to make and receive calls and our Access database to enter client information and book courses and one to one sessions. You would also take card payments over the phone.
Hours: 10-1pm Monday, Weds and Friday on a rota basis (around 3 sessions a month per person) – from your own home, so you will need a reasonable speed wifi connection. However, as this is a very close knit Team it would be preferable if you live in the St Albans/Harpenden area.
Some Outlook, Word and Excel experience is necessary.
An encrypted laptop will be provided for your use, to comply with GDPR regulations, along with full training and on-the-job support.
To apply, please visit the Get Involved area on our website or message us on this platform.
