Job Description


The de Havilland Aircraft Museum is seeking a seasoned fundraiser to join our tight-knit team. We are looking for someone with a passion to preserve and extoll the world leading aviation achievements of the de Havilland Enterprises (aircraft, engines, propellors, and rockets). 


You must be motivated, professional, and organized, with a knack for research and demonstrate exceptional drive to further our existing fundraising efforts and help strategize and deliver new ones.


In this role, you will use your expert communication skills and keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, you will be instrumental in moving the de Havilland Aircraft Museum closer to its financial goals.


Objectives of this Role

·       Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work

·       Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers

·       Spot new fundraising opportunities

·       Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals

·       Form strong relationships with external stakeholders

·       Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

·       Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that may be interested in gift-giving

·       Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors

·       Craft grant applications and fundraising proposals

·       Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns

·       Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers

·       Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met


Skills and Qualifications

·       Prior experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing

·       Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

·       Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers

·       Strong attention to detail

·       A passion for research

·       Adept at managing tasks, planning events, and balancing priorities


Preferred Qualifications

·       A degree in communications, business, public relations, or a related field

·       Certificate, Diploma or other similar qualification in Fundraising

·       Competence in Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace or similar

·       Experience using donor management systems

·       Experience writing grant proposals, press releases, and/or fundraising letters

·       Confidence with public speaking

·       Legal or accounting experience a plus

The de Havilland Aircraft Museum’s volunteers are dedicated to restoring de Havilland aircraft and artefacts. The new Sir Geoffrey de Havilland Hangar has provided additional facilities that has enabled more of our aircraft to be under cover and ensure that the restoration process can continue in all weathers as well as providing our visitors with the opportunity to enjoy practical and informative learning opportunities.
