Summary

We are looking for Weekend morning or afternoon Guides who can welcome and guide visitors around our historic Victorian Monitorial School site.

Detailed description

The British Schools Museum, Hitchin opens to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and our weekend volunteer team are the heart and soul of the visitor experience.


What's involved?


- Welcoming visitors, selling tickets & gift shop items, and guiding visitors around the site telling them interesting things about this history of this unique space!


- Being available to answer any questions or provide more detailed histories of the site in a friendly and approachable manner.


-For those that are enthusiastic about preserving the history of Hitchin and the history of education, a taking on the role of weekend Duty Manager occasionally.


This role would suit some cheerful, capable and with good communication skills. Anyone who loves history or Hitchin, and who is available at least once a month for either a morning 10-1 or afternoon session 1-4, or all day if wanted! Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of our site, we are unable to provide parking and some parts of the site are not wheel-chair accessible.


We are a volunteer-led Museum, and thrive on our wonderful friendly team. Come and join us!
