Be a Friendly Face for ACT at Addenbrooke’s!
About the Role
Are you friendly and approachable?
Do you enjoy talking to people?
Do you want to help Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie do even more?
As an ACT Information Hub Volunteer, you’ll be the welcoming face of ACT within the hospital. You’ll be based at one of our Information Hubs, speaking to patients, visitors, and staff — raising awareness of ACT and the different ways people can get involved.
Thousands of people pass through Addenbrooke’s Hospital each day. Your presence helps ensure more people understand how they can support services across the hospital by donating, fundraising, or volunteering.
✅ Full training, ongoing support, travel expenses, and a reference after two months are provided.
What You’ll Be Doing
You don’t need to have all the answers — just a friendly manner and willingness to help.
Hub support
- Welcoming people to the ACT Information Hub
- Talking about ACT and how donations make a difference
- Signposting people to ways they can support the charity
Raising awareness
- Promoting ACT’s fundraising and volunteering opportunities
- Helping distribute ACT information and literature
- Representing ACT positively within the hospital environment
Hub locations
- Main Entrance
- The Concourse
- Oncology (requires a DBS check)
You’ll always be supported by the ACT Fundraising Team, who will guide and support you throughout.
The Difference You’ll Make
Your presence at the Information Hubs makes a genuine and lasting impact.
By giving your time, you help:
- Increase awareness of ACT across the hospital
- Grow long‑term support for patient care
- Fund better patient experience, specialist equipment, and research
Your contribution is vital, and you’ll be part of a team working towards the shared goal of making our hospitals even better for our community.
Who Can Apply?
We warmly welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life. Diversity makes ACT stronger, and every new volunteer brings a valuable perspective.
You don’t need previous experience — just:
- A friendly, approachable personality
- Confidence talking to a wide range of people (or a willingness to build it)
- A passion for supporting Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie hospitals
🛂 Volunteers supporting the Oncology Hub will need to complete a DBS check.

About Addenbrookes Charitable Trust
Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust is the only registered charity dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Whether it’s treatment for an emergency, acute condition, pregnancy or long term illness, we believe that every patient deserves the highest quality of care available.
Thanks to the immensely generous support of our donors, Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals can provide a level of patient care beyond that which can be delivered by NHS funding alone and make projects happen sooner or to a greater degree than might have otherwise been possible.
Charitable donations fund high-tech equipment, specialist staff, extra comforts and vital research to find potential cures and help save lives locally, nationally and worldwide.
