About Young Carers Crew

Young Carers Crew (YCC) is an independent charity based in Stevenage that provides respite and support to young carers living in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire. The young carers are young people aged 8-18, who are primary or secondary carers for a member of their family.

We run fortnightly sessions, where we hope they can ‘just be themselves’ and enjoy their time at their special youth group. We also run occasional trips for them.

YCC also aims to serve as a place for the young carers to get any support they may need from other young carers, or from the volunteers at the group.

Summary

Our small charity --Young Carers Crew-- is run by a board of Trustees, together with a paid Youth Group Leader. We need to find a Secretary to join the team. The Secretary would also need to become a Trustee with Young Carers Crew.

Our mission is to support local young carers (aged 8 to 18) through running a fortnightly group with fun activities and with a chance to gain emotional support there too--plus occasional trips.

Description of Secretary opportunity

A new Secretary/Trustee will work with the team behind the scenes to ensure the safe running of the group. They will work alongside the team of Trustees as well as with the Youth Group Leader. A full role description is available on application.

Please note that this role is VOLUNTARY. Expenses will be paid.

You will find the role very fulfilling, as the group places a high value on the contribution of all their trustees. You may also occasionally be able to visit the group in person, and it can be really rewarding seeing the enjoyment these young carers gain from participation in the group.
