Summary

We need volunteers to help us keep our beautiful estate looking clean and tidy and to be a friendly face for our visitors.

Detailed description

Based ‘on the ground’ with Visitor Experience at the forefront of your mind, you will be looking at all aspects of the visitor journey, whether that be ensuring that bins are emptied or standing at a busy junction giving directions and answering questions. Anything a visitor sees or experiences is a reflection on Wimpole Estate and the National Trust as a whole, so you must be passionate about our visitors and giving them an exceptional day.

By getting involved, you could

·      Become part of a friendly and dedicated team

·      Meet new people from all walks of life and make new friends

·      Improve your face-to-face communication skills

·      Enjoy new experiences and learn something new every day

What's involved?

·      Helping to keep things looking at their best e.g. litter picking, emptying bins across the site, giving a muddy sign a wipe and reporting damage.

·      Having an eye over all aspects of the visitor journey from the car park to the Folly and beyond.

·      Being passionate about our visitors and Wimpole Estate.

·      Know where the key areas of the estate are, especially toilets and the cafes.

·      Learn about the estate as you go - it’s great when you can answer a visitor’s questions but don’t worry if you don’t know.

·      Know about anything interesting happening on the day and be able to direct visitors to where it’s taking place.

·      Be familiar with the missing child procedure.

·      Be aware of our lost property policy and know how to report and check for missing items.

·      Be familiar with the country code and the National Trust canine code.

·      Be aware of how to replace the consumables in the toilets, on very busy days we may need an extra pair of hands ensuring they stay topped up.

This role will suit you if you are...

·      Friendly and cheerful.

·      Have a keen eye for presentational standards.

·      Happy to help.

·      Comfortable engaging with visitors of all ages.

·      Willing to get stuck in.

·      Happy to spend all day outside and on your feet.

About Wimpole - National Trust

Wimpole is owned and managed by the National Trust, Europe's largest conservation charity, which looks after beautiful places for everyone, for ever. We are a busy working estate with a Farm, an 18th Century mansion house surrounded by gardens and parkland, with a shop, a second hand books shop, cafes and restaurant. Volunteers support us with our work in all areas of the estate and new opportunities arise all the time.
