Chair of Trustees vacancy

Help lead and shape the future of a successful local charity. As Chair, you’ll guide our Trustee Board, support good decision-making and help us grow sustainably. You’ll gain valuable leadership and governance experience while making a real difference to health, wellbeing and community life in Wheathampstead.

What you will be doing

As Chair of Trustees, you will help lead the Board of Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub and support us in making good, well-informed decisions about the charity’s future.

You will:

• chair Trustee meetings and help discussions stay focused and constructive;
• encourage all Trustees to contribute and work well together;
• help the Board think strategically and keep sight of the bigger picture;
• support good governance, financial oversight and responsible decision-making;
• work closely with fellow Trustees, staff, volunteers and community partners;
• help us review priorities, risks and opportunities;
• support succession planning and the continued development of the Board; and
• represent WCCH positively within the local community when appropriate.

You will not be expected to run the charity single-handedly. We are looking for someone who believes in shared responsibility and can help the whole Board to continue to work effectively as a team.

Previous experience as a Chair or Trustee would be helpful, but it is not essential. Leadership, management, business, community or voluntary-sector experience could all be relevant.

Trustee vacancy

Join our Trustee Board and use your skills, experience and ideas to help shape the future of our charity. You’ll contribute to key decisions, gain valuable governance and community leadership experience, and help support the Chapel Gym, Chapel Halls and Community Kitchen.

What you will be doing

As a Trustee of Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub, you will help shape the direction and future of a well-established local charity.

You will:

• attend Trustee meetings and contribute to discussions and decisions;
• help us think strategically about our priorities and future plans;
• support good governance and responsible use of the charity’s resources;
• help review finances, risks and major decisions;
• contribute your own experience, skills and perspective;
• support particular areas of the charity’s work where your interests and experience are useful; and
• act as an ambassador for WCCH within the community.

Trustees work collectively, so you will not be expected to know everything or take responsibility for every area.

What we are looking for

We are keen to hear from people who:

• care about the local community;
• enjoy working with others;
• can listen and consider different viewpoints;
• are willing to ask questions and contribute ideas;
• have sound judgement;
• are dependable and willing to make a reasonable commitment of time; and
• would like to use their skills to make a positive difference.

You do not need previous Trustee experience.

We would particularly welcome people with experience in areas such as:

• business or leadership;
• finance;
• HR or people management;
• health and wellbeing;
• community work;
• fundraising;
• communications;
• property or facilities;
• safeguarding;
• risk management; or
• partnership working.

You certainly do not need to have all of these skills.
