A few hours of your time could have a lasting impact on the life of someone with a learning disability. Your friendship can help build confidence, reduce loneliness, increase independence, and create meaningful connections within the local community.
You could be:
- 💬 Having a chat and checking in on their wellbeing
- 🚶 Going for a walk together
- ☕ Enjoying a coffee, meal, or trip to a local café
- 🛍️ Supporting shopping trips
- 📖 Reading books or magazines together
- 🎨 Taking part in crafts and hobbies
- 🏥 Accompanying them to appointments
- 🌟 Helping develop skills for greater independence

Watford & District Mencap society supports local people with learning disabilities and their families/carers.
We support around 800 local people each year.
Our services include registered care homes, adult learning and leisure activities, children's services, free advice and information, community training cafe. We also operate a charity shop as well as a programme of fundraising events.
