Spending quality time engaging with the clients we support at their home and in the local community. Make a real difference to the life of the person you visit
As a befriender, your skills, personality and location will be matched appropriately to an individual that has requested support on a one-to-one basis.
Our mission is to enable people with learning disabilities to make the most of life. By volunteering as befriender, you will be welcome part of a dedicated and passionate team. Each individual we support has different needs, and therefore this role is vast and varied. You could be supporting clients by:
· Taking them to appointments
· Sitting and having a chat
· Checking in on their well- being
· Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink
· Enjoying a walk
· A craft activity at home
· Reading a book/magazine together
· Supporting them on shopping trips
· Developing an individual’s skills needed to achieve greater independence
