Summary

Volunteer Drivers are needed to support patients who need help to take them home.

Detailed description

Ticket Home is the UCAN home from hospital scheme, helping patients to safely be discharged from hospital and return home.

Volunteer Drivers are needed to support patients who need help to take them home. This is a service for mobile patients who have no other means to return home from hospital.

Volunteers will collect patients from Princess Alexandra Hospital, drive them home and help them to settle in. This will help patients reduce their anxieties about going home alone, which in many cases helps to aid their recovery.

Home from hospital drivers is a flexible volunteering role – with no regular time commitment necessary.

Volunteers will need a clean driving licence and a vehicle with business insurance (any additional cost for this insurance will be reimbursed) and a current MOT.

This is an occasional role, for volunteer with a driving licence, and an easy-to-access vehicle so that patients can be driven home on their day of discharge.

All volunteers will receive full training including: Your role within the Ticket Home project, Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Lone Working, Health & Safety
