Summary

Every Friday morning we tend and nurture the Triangle Community Garden. Working together, outdoors, in nature, helps to lift the spirits and calm the soul.

Detailed description

If you

  • Enjoy being in nature
  • Want to contribute to something positive and therapeutic,
  • Want to learn more about growing and tending plants,
  • Want to get some healthy outdoor activity once a week,
  • Want to meet new people in a relaxed social environment,
  • Want to learn more about gardening in a sustainable way,
  • Want to visit interesting gardens and build friendships…

Then Friday Garden Club is for you!

Gardening experience not essential.

Every Friday, Garden Club meets to tend the Triangle Community Garden, its Forest Garden and its allotments, guided by Steve Granger, our incredibly knowledgeable and ever-patient Garden Club leader. This work is vital to underpin the Triangle Garden's key projects: Growing Ability and New Shoots - which provide social therapeutic horticulture for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues. The work Garden Club does in keeping our sites thriving, and maintaining a balance between biodiversity, accessibility and natural beauty, allows our key projects to focus on the horticultural therapy that is so beneficial to our participants. And our Friday volunteers find that Garden Club provides its own therapy.

Garden Club runs from 10am-12.15 every Friday finishing off with a tea/coffee break at around noon. Connect, grow, enjoy!

Getting there

We meet at Ransoms Pavilion, end of Alexandra Road, Hitchin SG5 1RB - the small brick-red building with a grey metal roof overlooking Ransom's Rec. Please come by sustainable means of transport eg walking, cycling, bus or train if you can. Parking is very restricted locally but there is a small 3 hour stay carpark on Nightingale Road next to the Esso garage.
