Our collection of interviews with local people as part of our Oral History programme is growing. Now in audio digital form, we want to transcribe them.
Our role is to capture, understand and tell the local story. Some of that is ancient history: but much is recent, and lives in the memories of people who have lived through local events.
We have a programme to record these memories, but long experience shows that they are best preserved and presented in hard copy. So they need to be transcribed.
This is a detailed task, of great significance, done at home at convenient times. It could be done using AI, but then needs very careful checking. How it's done is for discussion: but doing it will make a great contribution to our knowledge of our local history.
