Detailed description
Are you passionate about creating safe spaces for young people? Do you have experience in safeguarding and want to use your expertise to support a youth-focused charity?
We’re looking for a trustee with a strong understanding of safeguarding to help ensure our charity continues to uphold the highest standards of safety and care.
About Us
We are a small youth charity dedicated to empowering young people through community programmes, events, and support. Our trustees provide strategic leadership and ensure we operate ethically, legally, and in line with our values.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with professional or voluntary experience in safeguarding — whether in education, youth work, social care, or another relevant field. You don’t need to have been a trustee before; we welcome people who are keen to learn and contribute.
Key areas where your safeguarding expertise could help:
- Advising on safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Supporting staff and volunteers with safeguarding concerns.
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Trustee Responsibilities
As a trustee, you’ll:
- Attend board meetings (usually quarterly, with some additional involvement as needed).
- Contribute to strategic decisions and oversight.
- Act as a critical friend to the leadership team.
- Help ensure the charity meets its safeguarding obligations.
What You’ll Gain
- A chance to make a real difference in young people’s lives.
- Experience in charity governance and leadership.
- Opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Connection with a passionate and supportive team.
We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of the issues we work on, and from underrepresented backgrounds.
