To join as a member or trustee of Brecon Forest Farmhouse and oversee the financial aspects of the Farmhouse in the role of treasurer.
Summary of Responsibilities
Charities Commission
- Act as the registered contact for the Charity.
- Maintain and update Charities Commission records as and when required.
- Upload annual accounts in accordance with reporting deadlines.
Accounts
- Maintain an up-to-date spreadsheet recording all income and expenditure.
- Keep accurate soft and hard copies of all accounting documentation for record-keeping and audit purposes.
- Prepare for and arrange the annual audit of accounts.
- Make cheque payments in a timely and appropriate manner.
Bank
- Act as the registered contact for the bank.
- Maintain online access to current and deposit accounts.
- Update the bank’s records regarding trustees with account access and authorised signatories.
- Take responsibility for all correspondence received from the bank.
Electricity
- Act as the registered contact for both the electricity supplier and the utility broker.
- Provide monthly meter readings to the supplier.
- Agree new electricity supply contracts via the broker at the end of each fixed-term contract.
- Take responsibility for all correspondence received from the electricity supplier.
Powys County Council
- Act as the registered contact for Business Rates and Refuse Collection.
- Notify Powys County Council each quarter of the dates when refuse collections are required (to avoid default charges for weekly recyclable or three-weekly non-recyclable collections).
- Complete any grant applications that the organisation may be entitled to submit.
The current treasurer is available to offer a comprehensive handover and support the new trustee once in role. The above is a guide to assist a future trustee in understanding the role. The chair and vice chair are happy to assist and support.
