Stevenage Museum are looking for volunteers for a range of roles to help carry out our latest project, 'Talking Shop: Stories from Stevenage Town Centre'.Detailed description
There are a range of roles available to suit everyone's skills and preferences. Please indicate on your form which role you are applying for.
Memory Volunteer
Volunteer your time to share stories, photos and ephemera relating to shopping and working in Stevenage town centre. Your memories will become part of the museum's archive and help inform the exhibition that is produced as result of the project.
Archives Volunteer
Assist with archiving new material gathered through the project, including scanning photographs and uploading entries onto our collections database. Full training will be provided.
Oral Histories Volunteer
Assist with the recording of oral histories, helping to set up and lead reminiscence sessions, edit, transcribe and select material from the oral histories.
Exhibition Volunteer
Work as part of a team to help produce an exhibition at the end of the project to showcase what's been uncovered, including, research, writing labels, exhibition content and layout and installation. You could also help to promote the project by producing content for social media.
Creative Volunteer
Use your creativity to produce a response to the memories and stories uncovered by the project. This could take any form, such as a pamphlet, podcast, film, piece of art or poem. You could also help to promote the project by producing content for social media.
