Summary

Stevenage Credit Union are looking to recruit more directors to our board.

Detailed description

Stevenage Credit Union are looking to recruit more directors to our board. We are an established Credit Union formed in 1995. Credit Unions are cooperatives with strong connections to the community which they serve by offering easy ways of saving and low-cost loans. There are no outside shareholders to pay and all profit is returned to the members.

There are directors on our board who have served for several years, so we would like to expand the board to create greater diversity and bring in new ideas, to ensure the Credit Union carries on serving the community of Stevenage in the future. The directors are required to provide their time on a voluntary basis.

A credit union board serves a critical purpose. It is not only tasked with the role of governance and management of the Credit Union, but also to represent it’s members, to promote their interests and to serve the community.

Serving on the board of directors comes with many responsibilities. Some of these responsibilities are general for all board members, while others are required of a specific purpose.

About Stevenage Credit Union

Credit Unions are a worldwide movement of not-for-profit co-operatives.
Since 1995 the Stevenage Credit Union have provided members with:
• A local friendly service offering safe and east ways of saving.
• Access to low cost finance.
Credit Unions keep money within the community because there are no outside shareholders to pay.
When members invest in their local Credit Union, they know that the only people they are benefiting from apart from themselves, are their neighbours, colleagues and local businesses.
