There are fantastic benefits from becoming a volunteer with St Albans Lions Club - it's fun, you make new friends and contribute to our local community

St Albans Lions Club is a local club that provides grants to local charities, supports organisations and individuals in the area and performs service to others locally.  We are part of Lions International - a worldwide organisation. We have a diverse and interesting group of volunteers and are looking for more!

We raise most of our funds to provide grants through the Lions Charity Bookshop which is run by 6 Lions Clubs in the area.  Additional monies are raised by other fundraising events such as the Xmas Float Collections.

Examples of organisations & individuals we grant funds to include:

Foodbanks locally

Local schools including primary, secondary and Healthlands (Deaf School)

Centre 33 (homeless)

Special Olympics

Paralympic Athlete attending the Commonwealth Games

Magpie Club

Apsley Paper Mill Project

Homestart

Earthworks

SERV Herts & Beds (Blood Donor Bikes)

Guides

Up on Downs

St Francis Hospice

Herts Young Homeless

Jersey Farm Day Centre and so many more!

In addition our service activities support individuals and the community.  Examples would be running an Annual Seniors Fish & Chip Supper, running a gate at the St Albans Fireworks & supporting the Annual CAMRA Beer Festival.

THE COMMITMENT

To attend a minimum of 6 monthly meetings (circa 1 hour each) per year in order to stay in touch with what is happening in the club and contribute to its development. To support the Lions Charity Bookshop by volunteering and to get involved in other activities.  You can get involved as much as you like or are able given your circumstances!  It's fun, you make new friends and importantly you can help MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
