About Royston Museum Royston Museum is a family-friendly, accredited Museum, which celebrates and shares Royston’s heritage and stories, connecting people and places, past and present. Our vision is for Royston Museum to be a community hub, which celebrates our town’s heritage, nurtures curiosity and inspires conversations.


What does a Digital Engagement Volunteer do?

Our Digital Engagement Volunteer will help to create engaging online content to share the town’s rich heritage. You could be involved in:

- Researching and creating engaging content for different social media platforms, in particular content about the Museum’s collection

- Creating visual imagery for social media posts, including taking photographs and creating short videos

- Researching and drafting blog-style online exhibitions for the Museum’s website

- Promoting the Museum’s busy programme of events, including updating listing websites.

- Staying up to date with current trends

- Any other appropriate support and tasks in relation to the role


The role is supported by the Museum Director.


Who are we looking for?

This role would suit someone who:

- Has excellent communication skills and attention to detail

- Has strong computer skills 

- Is confident using social media, particularly Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky

- Has experience of digital tools, like Canva or other basic photo/ video editing tools

- Can work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines

- Is willing to represent the museum’s voice with professionalism and enthusiasm
