Prepare and serve drinks, snacks and lunches in the café for the general public, visiting groups and on event days.
The Royal Gunpowder Mills is a 170 acre site protected for its’ industrial heritage and natural history. Almost the whole site is classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The charity’s aims are to protect, preserve and enhance the special aspects of the site and to share the story of the industrial and social history, the science and the nature.
We open to the public to share the exhibitions and offer tours and activities. We run a schools programme that fits with the history of the site and the National Curriculum. We offer hire space and interesting environments for filming.
Visitors can enjoy refreshments in the Grade II listed Boiler House, as part of the overall visitor experience, raising important funds for our charity. Café assistants will be an integral part of our organisation’s new strategy as we begin to offer more as part of a new café experience.
We are looking for individuals who would enjoy volunteering with us preparing and serving drinks, snacks and lunches in the café for the general public, visiting groups and on event days.
This will be a shared role alongside other volunteers and various duties will be divided between the team.
Training will be provided in Visitor Services, Food Hygiene, Café Operations and general site knowledge and Health and Safety.
