Do you want to use your lived experience to shape real improvements in patient care? We’d love you to join us as a Volunteer PLACE Assessor.
The Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) is a national initiative that looks at how well care settings support patients’ dignity, comfort, and independence. This year, we’re taking part in PLACE Lite, with a special focus on listening to—and learning from—the disability community.
Your insight will help us understand how our care environment supports people with disabilities and where we can make meaningful improvements. Your voice really will make a difference.
As a PLACE Lite volunteer assessor, you’ll:
- Complete a short online training video to understand the assessment process
- Join our inspection team on-site at Peace Hospice Care, sharing your observations and experiences
- Help the group make practical recommendations for improving accessibility, inclusion, and patient experience
- Highlight any issues or suggestions using the service user assessment sheet
You’ll be warmly supported by our friendly Facilities Team, and training will be provided by NHS England Digital.
🙌 Who are we looking for?
You don’t need previous experience—just your voice, insight, and willingness to share your thoughts.
We’d especially like to hear from you if you:
- Have a disability or lived experience of accessibility challenges
- Have experience as a service user (patient, carer, family member) — but it’s not essential
- Care about improving the experience of others
- Feel comfortable expressing your views and engaging in group discussions
🎁 What’s in it for you?

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care
At Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, our unique care provides a lifeline of compassion and support to patients, carers, and families facing progressive life-limiting illness.
We provide palliative and end of life care support, including bereavement services, within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and our patient services are available to adults, as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.) Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them, as well as throughout the community, in schools and workplaces.
We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individual’s needs, whether that’s at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well Centre facilities. As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.
