Summary

You will accompany the van driver helping to load and unload new clothes and items in bags and boxes between our distribution centre, shops and offices

Detailed description

Purpose of this role

The van drivers and their mates are a key element of our Retail and Trading operation. They ensure that both new and donated items are moved between our shops, Ecommerce centre and R&T hub to ensure that we maximise the income we can generate for the benefit of our patients and their families. They provide key support to our fast-moving retail environment, where no two days are the same.

Main tasks

  • Accompanying the van driver on the van run, helping to load, unload and handle donated and new clothes and items in bags and boxes between our distribution centre, shops and offices

What are we looking for?

  • an ability to move and handle heavy boxes and bags around the distribution centre and our shops and in and out of the delivery vehicles
  • someone who is personable and polite as in this role you will be representing Rennie Grove Peace in the community
  • someone who is sociable and will enjoy engaging with our retail teams, both staff and fellow volunteers

We are looking for someone who can help us on a weekly basis if possible.

What's in it for you?

  • our retail and trading team are a friendly, inclusive team and love working with their many volunteers
  • you'll be out and about meeting our shop managers and volunteers across Bucks and Herts
  • without our van drivers and mates, our retail operation would grind to a halt, meaning we couldn't raise the funds to support local patients and families, so you will be giving your time knowing that you're making a real difference.

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

At Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, our unique care provides a lifeline of compassion and support to patients, carers, and families facing progressive life-limiting illness.

We provide palliative and end of life care support, including bereavement services, within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and our patient services are available to adults, as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.) Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them, as well as throughout the community, in schools and workplaces.

We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individual’s needs, whether that’s at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well Centre facilities. As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.
