🚚 About the Role

As an NHS Supplies Stock Assistant & Driver, you’ll play a key part in keeping our clinical services running smoothly. You’ll help us manage essential supplies across our teams and ensure everything is stored safely, rotated properly, and delivered where it’s needed.

  • Helping maintain an accurate stock database
  • Checking stock levels, expiry dates, and ensuring efficient rotation
  • Collecting requested stock from our main store and preparing it for delivery
  • Flagging items that need to be reordered
  • Updating records as items move in and out
  • Checking NHS supplies deliveries, logging them and storing safely
  • Completing a handover at the end of your shift
  • Once a month: visiting our other bases to support stock rotation

🌼 What We’re Looking For

You don’t need previous experience — just a willingness to help.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • 18+
  • Organised and methodical
  • Friendly, calm and confident communicating with different people
  • Able to keep information strictly confidential
  • Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
  • Flexible when plans change
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office
  • Happy to complete required training

Other requirements:

  • Clean, current driving licence
  • Fully comprehensive insurance (with voluntary driving included)
  • A roadworthy, taxed, MOT‑tested vehicle (if using your own)
  • We will ask for evidence and complete a DVLA check.

🧑‍🏫 Training & Support

You’ll receive:

  • A named manager to support you throughout your volunteering
  • Mandatory training at the start and refresher sessions later on
  • Data protection training
  • Role‑specific training arranged by your manager

ℹ️ Good to Know

  • You’ll complete a volunteer application form and show ID
  • We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do
  • We reimburse reasonable expenses

🌟 What’s In It for You?

Volunteering with us is incredibly rewarding. In this role, you’ll enjoy:

  • A real sense of purpose knowing you’re directly supporting patient care
  • Being part of a friendly, supportive team who value your contribution
  • The chance to develop new skills in stock management, organisation and communication
  • Training and ongoing guidance from your named manager
  • An active, hands-on role that keeps you moving and engaged
  • Experience that can enhance your CV or support future career goals
  • The opportunity to make meaningful connections across our hospice teams
  • Reasonable expenses reimbursed so you’re never out of pocket

Most importantly, you’ll be making a genuine difference to people at some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Getting there

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

When serious illness strikes, we're here to help people in our community get the best out of every day. From the moment of diagnosis our specialist teams work with each individual to provide the compassionate care they need, in the place that's best for them. This is what we call: extraordinary care, anywhere.

We know that life-limiting illness doesn't just affect the individual, so we care for those around each patient, too – both during an illness and through bereavement.

It takes a whole community to provide this care to everybody who needs it. Our volunteers, supporters and champions in the community are the driving force behind everything we do.
