Summary

Can you help us with stock taking the NHS supplies we need at our Inpatient Unit in Watford and deliver supplies to our other nursing buildings

Detailed description

Purpose of this role

 To ensure timely delivery of NHS supplies to and from the Inpatient unit at the Peace Hospice using own car and support with stock-takes and restocking of medical and non-medical supplies.


We are looking for someone who can volunteer on a Wednesday 12 - 2 and/or Friday 10 - 1


Main tasks

Wednesday approx. 12pm-2pm

  • Reviewing an allocated email account, which will have the stock orders required for the inpatient unit and community services. 
  • Checking the store cupboards on the IPU to ensure the stock required is not already on site. 
  • Complete orders for outstanding stock

Friday approx 10am-1pm

  • Check delivered stock against the order forms 
  • Place Inpatient Unit and community stock in allocated store rooms
  • Distribute where required around PHC building. 
  • Deliver any community stock to required base – last Friday of the month to Rennie House, Tring, Grove House, St Albans, Gillian King House, Chalfont St Giles.

What are we looking for?

·        18+

·        organised and methodical.

·        A friendly, calm, outgoing manner and ability to communicate with a range of people 

·        able and willing to maintain strict confidentiality at all times 

·        reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy 

·        flexible and an understanding that plans may change at short notice

·        Willing to undertake additional, mandatory training when requested 

·        Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft packages


Other requirements

 ·        Clean and current driving licence 

·        Fully comprehensive insurance with voluntary driving declared on policy 

·        If using your own vehicle, it should be taxed, MOT tested and roadworthy 

·        Please note we will need evidence of the above documents and will undertake a DVLA licence check.

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

At Rennie Grove Peace, we provide palliative and end of life care support within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire in four stages: Early Support Living Well, Dying Well and Bereavement Support. Our patient services are available to adults as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.) Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them.

We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individual’s needs, whether that’s at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well Centre facilities. As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.

Our staff team of 340+ includes a wide range of patient-facing disciplines plus operational support based in Watford, Tring, St Albans, Chalfont St Giles and Berkhamsted. The Charity is now one of the larger UK hospice charities, reaching a GP population of 797,037 of whom 75% live in Hertfordshire and 25% in Buckinghamshire.

Looking after over 4,500 patients a year, as well as those around them, is a huge privilege, one we simply could not achieve without the incredible support of our 1600 strong volunteer workforce. Our multidisciplinary team helps people to live well and receive support in the place that best suits their needs, when they need it the most.
