Summary

Packers make sure every item purchased online is carefully wrapped and dispatched so that it reaches its final destination safely and securely.

Detailed description

Purpose of this role

Our packers make sure that every item purchased online is carefully wrapped and dispatched so that it reaches its final destination safely and securely. This is the final stage of the journey for our donated items and is a vital step in ensuring full customer satisfaction.

Our packing volunteers work with the Ecommerce team based in our retail office. The team work together to source, list, pack and dispatch good quality donations. The money raised from the sale of these items helps fund patient care in your local community. We sell on online platforms, including eBay and Vinted, making the most out of every donation, and contribute to the recycling and reuse of pre-loved items, keeping them out of landfill.

We are a busy, and friendly retail team of staff and volunteers, working in a fast-moving environment to meet demanding deadlines.

Main tasks

·      packing items sold via our online platforms safely and securely – we could be packing a huge variety of parcels – from guitars to thimbles

·      using the correct packaging materials that are appropriate to the item; all our packing materials are recycled within our charity, and we strive to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as we can.

·      packing items quickly and safely – there is a large volume, and tight deadlines

What are we looking for?

·      someone with good attention to detail who is tidy, organised and methodical

·      the ability to follow a clear packing process using a sustainable approach

·      this is a physical role, involving packing items of all sizes, and working on your feet at a high work bench

·      someone who is happy to work alongside our friendly team, but is also able to work by themselves to meet our demanding deadlines

·      age 16+

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

At Rennie Grove Peace, we provide palliative and end of life care support within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire in four stages: Early Support Living Well, Dying Well and Bereavement Support. Our patient services are available to adults as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.) Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them.

We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individual’s needs, whether that’s at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well Centre facilities. As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.

Our staff team of 340+ includes a wide range of patient-facing disciplines plus operational support based in Watford, Tring, St Albans, Chalfont St Giles and Berkhamsted. The Charity is now one of the larger UK hospice charities, reaching a GP population of 797,037 of whom 75% live in Hertfordshire and 25% in Buckinghamshire.

Looking after over 4,500 patients a year, as well as those around them, is a huge privilege, one we simply could not achieve without the incredible support of our 1600 strong volunteer workforce. Our multidisciplinary team helps people to live well and receive support in the place that best suits their needs, when they need it the most. We’re here to help the whole family cope during the most difficult of times, early in diagnosis, during a patient’s illness and, if needed, when those around them are dealing with grief and bereavement.
