We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to support our adult art group — a space where patients can express themselves, relax, and find joy through art.

What you’ll be doing:

support with setting up the art materials in the creative therapy room.

· support patients in the room with any needs they may have using the art materials

· support patients in expressing their creativity in whatever way they can

· support to tidy up after each session

· support with setting up and offering drinks to patients

· ensure the patients work is kept safe and placed in the designated area for confidentiality purposes

What are we looking for?

· someone who is able to work creatively with a team of people of varied abilities and skills

· someone with an interest in using art to help with patient wellbeing

· the ability to be empathetic and patient, allowing participants to find their own way of interacting with the materials on offer

Training and support

· there will be a named line manager who will provide ongoing support

· there will be some mandatory training that you will need to complete at the start of your volunteering with us and then periodically afterwards as refresher training which will include data security and confidentiality

· your line manager will organise training specific to your role

What you need to know

· you will complete a volunteer application form, and we will ask for one reference from someone who knows you well. If the role you are applying for is for a counsellor or Complementary Therapist, we require the reference to be from someone who knows you in a professional context

· you will need to complete a Standard Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check for the adult workforce for this role.

· patient facing volunteers will have access to supervision support from line managers

· at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care we strive to continuously demonstrate our values. These values are embedded in our recruitment and selection process, and we are fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in both our workforce and within our culture. You can find a link to our Equality and Diversity policy here: Equality & Diversity policy

· we will pay reasonable expenses incurred, should you wish to claim them

· we rely on the commitment of our volunteers to support our services; however, we understand that you may need to take a break from your volunteering. When you are ready to return, your line manager will meet with you to talk about the role and make sure it is still right for you and may ask you to complete some refresher training.

To protect both patients and volunteers, you MUST NOT:

· give clinical advice or medication

· counsel clients

· give out personal contact details

· witness any legal documentation for th

Getting there

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

When serious illness strikes, we're here to help people in our community get the best out of every day. From the moment of diagnosis our specialist teams work with each individual to provide the compassionate care they need, in the place that's best for them. This is what we call: extraordinary care, anywhere.

We know that life-limiting illness doesn't just affect the individual, so we care for those around each patient, too – both during an illness and through bereavement.

It takes a whole community to provide this care to everybody who needs it. Our volunteers, supporters and champions in the community are the driving force behind everything we do.
