Support our driver with evening food collections, sorting and lifting trays, then helping prepare rescued food for the Random Café shop
We’re looking for reliable volunteers to support our driver with evening food collections from shops in Watford town centre. This role involves helping gather surplus food after closing, sorting trays, and assisting with lifting and loading items into the van.
Once back at Random Café, you’ll help unload, organise, and prepare the rescued food for our waste‑food shop. Your support ensures good food is saved from landfill and made available to the local community.
It’s a practical, hands‑on role that suits someone who is organised, comfortable with light lifting, and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
Applicants must be over 18 years of age
Hours are between 7 pm and 9.30 pm
Available days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

About Random Café CIC
Random Café runs a community café in Watford, open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 10 am and 3 pm. The café serves hot and cold drinks and a selection of sweet and savoury items which have either been saved from supermarkets or grown from our community gardens.
In addition, we have a food waste shop that sells food we cannot use in the café back to the local community on a PAYF basis. This allows us to save as much food as possible from being wasted meaning that since 2017, we have saved over 120 tonnes of food from going to landfill. The Shop is open from 11 am until 2 pm.
We need your help to allow us to continue to support our local community, to continue to reduce the amount that goes to landfill and to keep managing our community gardens so that we can grow as much food for the café as possible.
