Do you have an eye for valuable items & enjoy browsing or selling second hand items online? This is an exciting opportunity for you if you are interested in fashion, collectables, researching unusual items and love photographing items to make them look their best. The time you dedicate will ensure that we make more funds from the sale of donated items, enabling us to help local animals in need.
We are the RSPCA Stort Valley Branch and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us to raise funds & carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
Our charity shop plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community as well as raising vital funds for our branch, so that we can continue our local animal welfare work. This role is based in our Bishops Stortford shop which sells a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables.

- Helping to maximise income by identifying valuable donated items.
- Researching items to ensure they are listed & priced appropriately.
- Taking photos of items to be listed for sale.
- Responding in a timely and professional manner to any enquiries received from potential buyers.
- Monitoring our eBay listings to keep them active & up to date.
- Assisting with packing items appropriately before taking them to the local post office and posting to the buyer. Parcels are small to medium sized.

- IT literacy and ability to use our tablet is required, as is the ability to take and upload clear photographs.
- Capable of researching the origin and value of items using a variety of sources.

- Capable of working with minimal supervision, once fully trained.
- Volunteers need to be aged 18 or over.
- Must be able to complete online induction health & safety training. You will need basic IT skills and access to a computer for this.
What we can offer you

- Experience in e-commerce, online retail and digital fundraising.

Why volunteer with us?
Every sale goes towards funding to help local animals, a vintage ornament could fund lifesaving veterinary treatment, a donated book could help to feed a rescued cat. By volunteering as an online sales (ebay) assistant you’ll transform donated goods into hope, care & brighter futures for local animals who need us the most. Every sale, bid & click could help to change an animal's life for the better.
