About Playskill

Playskill in the only charity in Hertfordshire, and one of only a few in the UK, supporting pre-school aged children with physical disabilities and delays and their families through free specialist playgroups, family support, respite events and training. Specialists in Early Intervention, our work centres on working with children in those key early developmental windows up to the age of 5.

The one-stop-shop approach allows multi-disciplinary teams to work together to provide expert therapy including physio, speech and language and occupational therapy in a unique play based setting. While playing alongside their peers, children develop key life skills such as learning to walk, kick a ball, communicate, dress and feed themselves to name a few.

Playskill recognises the stress and isolation having a child with SEND can bring to the whole family and so we work hard to provide social and respite events to build friendships and peer support networks as well as giving parents and siblings a much needed break or time together.

Our training programme is tailored to the needs of the children and their families, helping to build confidences and knowledge to further support their children at home and outside of Playskill. Delivered by experts in their fields, and often therapists from groups, these sessions are provided throughout the year and a family’s time at Playskill.

The Family Support Team play a pivotal role in helping families navigate the challenging world of SEND. Including Education, Health and Care Plans, access to benefits and general support.

Playskill provides its services free to families and receives no government funding for our vital work.
