This webinar will focus on raising awareness of mental well-being within volunteering roles, alongside exploring the importance of empathy in supporting others.
Open Door St Albans will be running a Mental Wellbeing and Empathy Webinar on Friday 24th April at 2 pm for our volunteers.
We have decided to open the webinar to other charitable organisations that rely on volunteers to support them.
The webinar is being delivered through our national partner, Ricoh UK, who work with external trainers to run the session. The trainer will be Tyler Lowe from Loving Life.
Tyler Lowe is a wellbeing speaker and physical therapist who works with organisations to build healthier, high-performing teams. After years in clinical practice, he noticed a recurring pattern—people often sought support too late. In response, he founded Loving Life to work proactively with employers, making wellbeing practical, engaging, and scalable.
He has designed and delivered programmes across a wide range of sectors, including tech, media, retail, finance, and public services, working with both frontline teams and senior leadership. His sessions are grounded in research and real-world delivery, providing practical tools that participants can apply immediately.
In recognition of his work, Tyler is an Ambassador for The King’s Trust (founded by King Charles III), and was invited to Buckingham Palace—an experience that further reinforced his mission to make evidence-based wellbeing accessible in the workplace.
The webinar is completely free to volunteers, and we are offering other local charities the opportunity to join our volunteer pool and attend.
This webinar will focus on raising awareness of mental well-being within volunteering roles, alongside exploring the importance of empathy in supporting others. Tyler will share proven strategies to enhance mental well-being and offer practical guidance on adopting an empathetic approach in volunteer settings.
We have capacity for 150 attendees via Zoom.
To confirm, the session will take place on Friday 24th April 2026 at 2:00pm (via Zoom) and will run for one hour.
If you would like to attend this useful session, please get in touch, and we will send the Zoom link to attend.
We look forward to seeing you there.

About Open Door St Albans
Open Door work with other local charities and services to assist people at risk of homelessness. In 1993 we opened the St Albans night shelter, and led the development of the Open Door accommodation and Drop-In Centre in Bricket Road. We continue to make grants to improve the facilities. Open Door needs your help to support people who are homeless and need help to rebuild their lives in the community. Open Door is only able to run smoothly because of the time and dedication of volunteers who help in many practical ways.
