The Universal, SEND and Emerging Needs Activity Volunteer plays a key role in supporting the team in their work with offering courses, family activities to parents, carers, families and children (0-5years). We are looking for friendly, hands on individuals who are interested in early years, to welcome families, support the engagement of both parent and child with all the activities we provide in the sessions, promoting children's development and positive feedback and praise indoor and outdoor group activities.
Roles Based in St Albans
Days/Times/Locations
Monday 9.30-10.30am Active Rhyme Time St Marys Church Marshalswick
Thursday 10-11.30am Baby Group Marlborough Methodist Church
Friday 10-11am Physical Fun Sopwell Family Centre
Friday 13-14.30pm Baby Group London Colney Family Centre
Main Tasks Could Include:
- Meet and greet families upon arrival at the centre, ensuring all families feel valued and welcome and helping them to feel comfortable in the sessions.
- Help with set up and tidying e.g., setting up tables and chairs (light duties)
- Support the work of the FSS staff by explaining what happens in the sessions and getting all families to sign in on arrival.
- Engaging with families throughout the session
- Helping with surveys, feedback, and child voice.
- Will be given particular roles within the sessions.
Skills, Experience and Qualities needed:
- Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- You need to have a friendly approach.
- Excellent communication skills
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- The ability to work well in a team and unsupervised.
Session Descriptions;
Baby Group (pre-walkers)
Meet other families with young babies and the Family Support Team in a friendly environment. During this session there will be time to play and discover more about your baby’s development as well as support your wellbeing as a new parent. Drop in, no booking required!
Active Rhyme Time (0-5 years) - Little Herts Session
Fun, active rhymes and songs for your baby and toddler. A great way to meet other families and develop your child's communication and physical skills. Siblings welcome. Drop in, no booking required!
Physical Fun (18 months +) - Little Herts Session
A fun, active session. Come and meet other local families and enjoy lots of play opportunities to support your child with their physical development. Siblings welcome. Drop in, no booking required!
