Assisting with running our scout group meeting hall, in Harpenden, specifically managing hirers and suppliers. Ideally, would also become a trustee.

We are looking for someone to assist with running our scout group meeting hall, in Harpenden, working with the Hall Manager and Hall Treasurer and other team members.

Specific roles are:

  • Managing regular hirers of the hall.
  • Dealing with all suppliers (utilities, PPL/PRS, cleaning companies and insurance).

There are currently 7 regular hirers, most hiring once a week. Tasks include checking they have paid hire fees, dealing with occasional queries, inducting new hires (perhaps once or twice a year).

This role is important, as we depend on the fees from regular hirers to meet our running costs, which makes possible the scout activities and provides the community with a venue for classes and activities.

Hours: between 0 and 5 per week. (It will vary depending what comes up.) Usually at a time that suits you. You can largely carry out the role from home, but you will need to visit the hall from time to time, so you need to be fairly local.

This is an ongoing role and we would hope that you would take it on for at least a couple of years.

Expenses are likely to be negligible, but are refunded on request.

There would be scope for you to take on further duties, if you wished.
