Detailed description

Role Description:

Are you empathetic and understanding? Do you have an hour each week to make a positive difference in a young person’s life? MCR Pathways is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our mentoring community!

We are currently looking for mentors in schools in Stevenage, Cheshunt, Tring,Hemel, and Hertford.

Our volunteer mentors come from every walk of life, background and profession. As every young person is unique, we welcome a diverse range of people to join our mentor community. No prior experience is required—just the ability to listen and be there consistently. All it takes is an hour a week to change a young person’s future. And age 21 and above.

As a Volunteer Mentor, you will:

  • Meet with your young person for one hour each week in their school (between 9am - 3pm) for at least one year.
  • Be empathetic, kind, open-minded, non-judgemental, friendly, approachable, understanding, patient, committed and reliable.

After applying, you’ll have a one-to-one conversation to help us create meaningful mentor-mentee matches. Following that, you’ll receive training to learn essential mentoring tips. You’ll be matched with a young person in a nearby school based on shared interests and life experiences.
