Volunteer Day Project Assistant – Little Grove CIC

Location: Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire

Days: Wednesdays and/or Thursdays

Hours: 10am–3pm (flexible – half days or full days welcome)

About Little Grove

Little Grove is a friendly, not-for-profit organisation supporting young adults with learning disabilities and autism to lead fulfilling, independent and active lives.

Our ethos is simple: "Do with, not for." We believe in encouraging independence, building confidence, developing life skills and creating opportunities for friendships and new experiences.

Our Day Projects offer a welcoming, supportive environment where young people can take part in a variety of activities, learn new skills and enjoy spending time together.

About the Volunteer Role

We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join our Day Projects team on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

You'll work alongside our experienced staff, helping young adults participate in activities, develop confidence and enjoy their day.

You don't need previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities or autism. We're looking for people who are patient, approachable, encouraging and genuinely enjoy spending time with others.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support young adults to participate in a range of activities, including cooking, arts and crafts, games, gardening and community-based projects.
  • Encourage independence by helping people develop practical everyday skills.
  • Spend time chatting, socialising and building positive relationships with our young people.
  • Support group activities, helping everyone feel included, valued and involved.
  • Share your own interests, hobbies or skills with the group where appropriate.
  • Work alongside our staff team to create a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Follow Little Grove's safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in people who are:

  • Friendly, patient and good communicators.
  • Reliable and happy to get involved.
  • Respectful of individual differences and abilities.
  • Enthusiastic about helping others build confidence and independence.
  • Willing to learn and work as part of a small, supportive team.

What You'll Gain

Volunteering with Little Grove is a lovely opportunity to make a genuine difference while becoming part of a friendly and welcoming community.

You'll have the chance to meet new people, develop skills and experience, share your interests and see the positive impact of your involvement.

You'll receive guidance and support from our experienced staff team throughout your time with us.

Commitment

Our Day Projects run on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10am to 3pm, in Abbots Langley.

We'd ideally love volunteers who can attend regularly, but we're flexible and would welcome people who can offer a morning, afternoon or full day.

All volunteers will receive an induction, and appropriate safeguarding checks will be undertaken before starting.

If you're looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity where you can make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
