Summary

Are you an experienced and qualified PAT tester willing to help us save broken items from ending up in landfill?

Detailed description

We are looking for an experienced and qualified PAT tester to support our Big Fix events. These events are based on the international movement of Repair Cafes – where volunteer repairers fix broken items to keep them in use and reduce items ending up in landfill. As part of Letchworth Garden Shed’s Library of Things, we will be running four Big Fix events each year.

Household electrical items are common items that need fixing, and this is where we need your help.

We need a qualified PAT tester to test all electrical items before and after they are repaired.

You will:

  • Be responsible for our PAT testing station.
  • Test all household electrical goods before and after repair.
  • Accurately record and label tested items.

Skills required:

  • Experience and knowledge of PAT testing.
  • An understanding of household electrical goods.
  • Teamwork and people skills.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.
  • A can-do personality
  • Eager to support and contribute to the wider team (volunteer repairers and other volunteers)

Our first event will be on 10th June 2023, 10am to 3pm.

About Letchworth Garden Shed

We're a team of locals who, after loads of work, set up a library of things in town last year so we can share more as a community. At the LGS, people can borrow a whole range of items (gardening tools, kitchen gadgets, kit for parties and camping, DIY equipment....) for a small fee instead of buying it themselves. Good for people, good for the community, good for the planet.
