Detailed description

The role helps deliver a range of conservations tasks that are detailed in a six monthly Conservation Task Programme. The tasks vary in content and locations throughout the park.

  • Meadow management.
  • Scrub and tree clearance.
  • Cutting back paths and placing chippings down.
  • Site spruce ups and litter picking.
  • Removal of invasive species.

Your volunteering will...

  • Help conserve habitats for wildlife species such as Water Vole, Kingfisher, Otter, Bittern, Bats and Orchids.
  • Help to keep our open spaces accessible and attractive to visitors.
  • Help remove harmful litter from our parks.

What do you need? All you need to bring is suitable outdoor clothing, footwear, a packed lunch with water and plenty of enthusiasm. Hot drinks, tools and training are provided. Please bring your own mug and work gloves (if you have them) to reduce the likelihood of spreading Covid-19.

What happens on the day? The Rangers will be at the meeting place at 10:00. They’ll give you an introduction to the site and project and show you how to use the tools safely. The projects are normally completed by 15:00. Most people stay all day but any time you can spare will certainly help to make a difference!
