Open Goal: The Magazine for Men
A creative project improving men’s mental health through stories, connection, and everyday life.
Open Goal is a new community magazine designed to support men’s mental health in a gentle, everyday way. It brings together real stories, football memories, humour, and reflections on life — creating something men can pick up in a barber shop, café, or waiting room and feel instantly understood.
The magazine is simple, warm, and down‑to‑earth. There’s no pressure, no therapy language, no expectations — just a space where men can share experiences, feel less alone, and reconnect with the things that make them feel grounded.
We’re building Open Goal with the community, and we’re looking for people who want to help shape it. You don’t need experience — just a willingness to be part of something meaningful.
⭐ Roles we’re looking for
- Writers & storytellers — short pieces, memories, reflections, match‑day stories, everyday life moments
- Editors & proofreaders — shaping articles, tidying text, keeping the tone warm and clear
- Design helpers — simple layout, fanzine‑style pages, visual ideas
- Content gatherers — chatting to local men, collecting stories, quotes, or memories
- Distributors — placing copies in barbers, cafés, community hubs
- Community connectors — linking with local groups, clubs, and organisations
- Idea contributors — helping shape themes, topics, and future issues
- Printers & print helpers — people who can help print small batches at home, through local printers, or via community resources
All roles are flexible, gentle, and can be done from home or locally in your own time.
