Summary

We are looking for a volunteer to work on reception in our Inpatient Unit on a Saturday between 3pm-6pm.

Detailed description

What you'll be doing: 

  • Welcoming visitors into the unit 
  • Logging visitors , contractors and clients for counselling in the unit 
  • Answering the telephone and directing calls to relevant person 
  • Taking in packages to the unit 
  • On occasions doing small admin tasks

Your skills and abilities: 

  • Warm and caring nature with a desire to help others manage day to day living 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse group of patients and colleagues 
  • Well-organised 
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Information:

  • Full Training and support will be provided 
  • Full Enhanced DBS will be carried out 

Am I eligible to volunteer? 

We ask that our volunteers are: 

  • At least 18 years old 
  • Live within an easy commute to the area 
  • Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week 

All volunteers are assessed individually for the volunteer roles they are applying for. We strongly believe in equal opportunities and welcome applicants who are representative of our diverse communities.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Isabel Hospice guidelines. 
  • Have a professional and courteous manner in accordance with Isabel Hospice policies.

  • Identify yourself as a volunteer while carrying out your duties 

​​​​​ All appointments are at the discretion of the management team and are subject to a one-month trial period for both parties.

All our care is free and can be provided in your home, at our community hubs or our In-Patient Unit. Most of the people we care for have cancer, however, we are also increasingly caring for people with other life limiting conditions.
