We are a social and lunch club for older people based in Howard Gardens in Letchworth. We are open every weekday morning between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Howard Garden Social Centre is a welcoming charity dedicated to supporting older people. It provides a safe and friendly environment where members can take part in daily activities such as seated exercise and bingo, and enjoy a freshly cooked, nutritious lunch. The centre plays an important role in reducing social isolation by giving older people the chance to meet others and stay connected.
The role of a volunteer at Howard Garden Social Centre is to help look after and support members in a warm, friendly, and respectful way. Volunteers assist with daily activities, help serve meals, and provide companionship by spending time chatting and engaging with members. They play an important part in creating a welcoming environment by offering a listening ear and a helping hand.
We are looking for volunteers to be able to commit to one, two or three mornings a week.
