Summary

Volunteer mornings at Hitchin Youth Allotment at Old Hale Way over next three weekends Sundays 2nd and 9th March and Saturday 15th March.

Detailed description

We are running a few of volunteer mornings at Hitchin Youth Allotment at Old Hale Way. We are, in the main, laying new wood chips on our paths and putting some fresh compost into the beds so we are ready for the peak visit season, but there will likely be a few other things to do too... possible putting up raspberry supports. Here are the times:

Sunday 2nd March (this coming Sunday), any time between 9.30 and 11.15

Sunday 9th March, any time between 9.30 and 11.15

Saturday 15th March, any time between 9 and 12.30

You are welcome to any or all of them.

Very friendly sessions as we get ready for working with young people on where food comes from. If you can attend would you please let me know so I have numbers.

Getting there

The allotments are behind the houses on the right as you head along Old Hale Way towards Ickleford. Take the track by the last house on the right and through the red gate.

About Hitchin Youth Allotment

Hitchin Youth Allotment (HiYA) is a successful and nationally recognised community organisation run to get young people involved with gardening and growing fruit and vegetables. It is a fund and hands on environment linking up with local schools and youth groups. It is based on an allotment site in Hitchin and is run by a dedicated and friendly group of volunteers who deliver sessions with young people and maintain the allotment plots. It is a great place to volunteer for people keen on gardening, allotments, the environment and getting children outside!
