Offer a listening ear to refugees and asylum seekers at one of our weekly drop-in hubs.

We are seeking volunteers to work alongside our ESOL teachers at local drop-in hubs for refugees and asylum seekers.

Alongside the English lessons, we also offer general support and advice service. Activities may include listening and chatting, form filling, helping people to navigate local services, and signposting to other support organisations.

We are particularly looking for volunteers with availability on Tuesday daytimes to help with several new sessions that will be starting in the Autumn. Possible locations include: Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Broxbourne, Hitchin,  Borehamwood, and St Albans.

Herts Welcomes Refugees will arrange for volunteers to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of the enrolment process. Ongoing support and training is given to volunteers by Herts Welcomes Refugees. This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on people living in the local community.

About Herts Welcomes Refugees

We also help some refugees and asylum seekers who are not supported by either the Refugee Council or local councils.
