Deliver English classes to small groups of refugees and asylum seekers at a weekly drop-in hub

We are looking for experienced ESOL volunteers to run small English classes or informal conversation groups for refugees and asylum seekers at our drop-in sessions. These classes are an opportunity for individuals to learn practical English and to help them integrate into their local community.

If you’re keen to support English classes but do not have formal experience, we also need volunteers to assist the teacher, help to set up the room, make refreshments, and, in some settings, provide support with preschool children while their parents take part in the class.

Herts Welcomes Refugees will arrange for volunteers to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of the enrolment process. Ongoing support and training is given to volunteers by Herts Welcomes Refugees. This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on people living in the local community.

We are particularly looking for volunteers with availability on Tuesday daytimes to help with several new sessions that will be starting in the Autumn. Possible locations include: Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Broxbourne, Hitchin, Borehamwood, and St Albans.

We also need volunteers on a Wednesday in Hertford.
