Summary

Responsible for taking the lead on running the League and how it fits in with the wider community of clubs, with the help of the Management Committee.

Detailed description

A role for someone who is a leader. As leader of the team, the Chairperson makes big decisions in the league, a beacon of light for people to follow. Working closely with some brilliant people in the committee, you’ll get a front-row seat to guide and direct your league to grow stronger. 


ONGOING: KEY ACTIVITIES TO LEAD EFFECTIVELY

These responsibilities help you continue to lead and support the league day to day.

• Chair committee and league meetings. Take an active leadership role in decision-making.

• Value and support volunteers. Recognise their contributions and make them feel part of the league’s success.

• Build relationships with local partners and governing bodies stay connected with stakeholders like your County FA and the FA.

• Promote the league in the community be an ambassador who helps raise the league’s profile locally.

• Attend games and sessions across all age groups. Stay engaged with what’s happening on the ground.

• Be active at league events. Your presence, guidance and direction shows commitment and builds rapport.

• Champion the England Football Programme. Align your league’s development with national standards and support.


LONG-TERM: STRATEGIC INFLUENCE

As your confidence grows, so does your influence on the league’s future.

• Lead the league’s business planning and development – shape its long-term direction and growth.

• Oversee senior appointments – help bring in the right people to strengthen your leadership team.


Time Commitments

• An average of 2-4 hours per week

• Attendance at League festival events (one day per month)

• Additional time may be required on an ad hoc basis to liaise with Hertfordshire FA and The FA on league development and discipline matters.
