Summary

Harpenden Child Contact Centre (HCCC) facilitates contact between children and their parents from whom they are separated often following family breakdown.

Detailed description

We are a small charity whose purpose is to facilitate and support contact between children and their parents or other family members from whom they are separated often due to family breakdown. Though based in Harpenden, HCCC often supports families from further afield.

This is a highly rewarding position and provides an opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families.

This role takes up to a few hours a week on a ‘2 months on, 2 months off’ basis (alternating with another administrator). This role is done from home, using laptops and phone provided by the centre. Contact sessions take place twice a month on a Saturday afternoon in All Saints Church Hall, Harpenden, with an experienced Team Leader and a group of volunteers.

The successful applicant will work together with the Team Leaders, supporting the operation of the Centre, and providing an effective service for families, enabling non-resident parents to have contact with their child(ren) in a safe environment.

In addition to working alongside our existing team members, you will be able to take part in NACCC coordinator training (from the National Association of Child Contact Centres).

The role involves the administration between and in preparation for sessions and includes:

·      Receiving and responding to all telephone calls, texts and email messages coming into the centre

·      Maintaining client files and information, scanning paperwork as required

·      Providing communication between current families to aid arrangements

·      Provide support and information for new families, and manage their application to use the centre

·      Liaising with team leaders & volunteers about sessions

·      Providing reports/statistics as required

·      Attending up to 4 committee meetings and 1 AGM per year

The successful candidate will be committed and supportive of the vision, value and work of Harpenden Child Contact Centre.
